PLUMB LINE STUDY 7:30pm: A) Where Have We Been? B) We Are We? C) Where Are We Going?
Amos 7:7-8

Dear Members and Friends,

Please join us for the first Zoom meeting for our plumb line study on Thursday Feb. 18, 2021 at 7:30 PM.  This is an important step in deciding the future path of our church.  During the first session we will focus on the history of our congregation.  Please join us to share your personal experiences with our church.  We look forward to hearing about how you came to join us, your involvement in our fellowship activities and special family celebrations.  To get an accurate picture of our congregation, we need input from all of our members.  Especially important for this segment, will be observations from members who have been with us the longest. Please join us for an informal discussion on Zoom; it’s a great way to “see” your friends safely!

Thank You-

"Almost all of us have grown up with the idea that the Scripture reading is soley a matter of hearing the Word of God for today.  That is why for many the Scripture reading consists only of a few brief selected verses that are to form the central idea of the day.  There can be no doubt that the daily Bible passages published by the Moravian Brethern, for example, are a real blessing to all who have very used them.  Many people have realized that to their great amazement and have been grateful for the daily Bible readings particularly during the time of the church struggle.   But equally there can be little doubt that brief passages cannot and must not take the place of reading the Scripture as a whole.  The verse for the day is not yet the Holy Scripture that will remain through all time until the DAY OF JUDGMENT.  The Holy Scriptures are more than selected Bible passages.  It is also more than "Bread for Today."  It is God's revealed WORD for all peoples, for all times.   The Holy Scriptures do not consist of individual sayings, but are a whole and can be used most effectively as such......The full witness to Jesus Christ the Lord can be clearly heard only in its immeasureable inner relationships, in the connection of Old and New Testaments, of promise and fulfillment, sacrifice and law, LAW & GOSPEL, cross and resurrection, faith and obedience, having and hoping."   Dietrich Bonehoeffer's LIFE TOGETHER, General Editor, Wayne Whitson Floyd Jr. Minneapolis, MN: FORTRESS PRESS, 1996, p. 58-60.
